Hello, my name is Paul Large (that's me-ish above) and I am a 21 22 23 24 year old video games Character Artist from Scotland.
I am a senior level artist with more-or-less 3 years of industry experience and a handful of shipped titles under my belt so far. Currently I am working for Ruffian Games where I have just wrapped up work as the lone character/prop/general artist and all-round helper dude on Crackdown 2.
At the moment I am still living in Scotland with my 'woman' and our wee girl. I am, however, currently seeking offers for senior/lead level character art or freelance work anywhere in the world. I have a very strong work ethic that I use to not only complete my own work to very high standard but I can make sure the team beside me also handles their work well by providing advice and help. More of that in the old CV.
If you'd like to know more about me check out the links to the right, and please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I joined Ruffian in March 2009 as the only character artist (the Art Director, Paul Simms Sr., did character work also). During my time on the project I had to work closely with the art director in order to collaborate with setting up a workflow for signing off procedure. Towards the end of the project I applied myself to the unique props of Pacific City - working with the art lead to flesh out and redesign existing and new work. As well as this I did all of the render work for the press and front-end, the Gamer Pic icons and much more that I've forgotten. It was a long year.
Please note: the images shown for CD2 are small in size due to the restriction the engine put on the creation process. Most of the characters feature 512x256 textures for the whole body and face. As the production cycle was so rushed these are the only versions available. As a result I am only comfortable displaying them at the resolution they were intended. Wireframes and texture sheets per request.
I started at Venom late into the development of Prizefighter. I was first resonsible for creating head assests for the ringside character and trainers before moving onto story characters and finally moving on to work on almost all of the boxers in the game in some way. A lot of the characters that had already been made needed tweaked, either texture work or modeling to enhance liknesses.
I don't really get much time for personal work but here is some stuff I have cranked out between projects over the last few year. For you sake I have omitted the crap.

Here is some stuff I'm either working on or will never finish, or both.
Finally found the time to update the old portfolio!
Well, I've finally done it. After pissing about for months with new designs and wrestling with this and that, I've finally managed to get a new portfolio together. It's pretty much the messiest site I've ever thrown together -markup wise- but I don't care. I'm not going for any web design jobs just yet :P . Also, as Crackdown 2 came out last week (Yay!) I have uploaded a small portion of the work I did on that number.
There is also some new personal work that I did at the end of my CD2 stint. Hopefully now this is up I will get round to updating it more ofter. Or not. We'll see.
